Originally from Texas, I completed my undergraduate degree in microbiology from Texas A&M University in 2005 and medical school training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas, in 2009. After the destruction of Hurricane Ike, I relocated to a drier climate and completed my residency training in psychiatry at the University of New Mexico in 2013. I have a wide range of experience which includes working at the NM State Psychiatric Hospital and working as an emergency/acute care psychiatrist at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Albuquerque, NM, where I treated a variety of disorders. I feel that a balance between psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, diet/nutrition, and exercise is critical for long-term growth and development rather than focusing solely on acute symptom relief.
